New Beginnings

This artwork represents the journey of two Torres Strait Islander siblings to meet and connect after a lifetime of not knowing the other existed. One sibling was born and raised in the Big City, the other has lived a traditional life rich with language and culture. It represents the joy of new beginnings, of a meshing of two worlds and the sharing of knowledge, of a reconciliation of past hurts and journeys before ours and the celebration of a richer future with each other in their lives. …It tells the story of me meeting my big brother on Badu Island earlier this year, and learning he is an artist too…
