Tree Of Growth
The white tree represents the time line of contact between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples and Non-Indigenous peoples. Red dots on the timeline represent blood that has been spilt and misunderstandings amongst the different people. Pink dots represent children who have been born between different peoples, therefore a positive understanding of cultures and the ability to live together. Animals have been included as they are totems and can become food items for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cultures. Boomerangs mean that even though we go through a journey, like a boomerang we will return to our cultures. The compartmentalised dots on the sides of the tree mean Non-Indigenous peoples influences on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders' lives. Green is a mixed colour, made from yellow and blue. this means different peoples can exist side by side and live in harmony. The white dots at the top of the painting represent the different clan groups, the colours going in an upward motion has a meaning of Non-Indigenous peoples will help to enhance the lives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples
