Les Graffiti Sont Errasés (graffiti is erased)

This TSB is painted to resemble a pack of playing cards as it is located in front of the QLD Bridge Club.

A TSB is a ‘ready-made’ object which undergoes modification by local artists. The whiskered Queen of Hearts alludes to Surrealist artist Duchamp and his ‘addition’ to an iconic painting, the Mona Lisa. TSB artwork has lately become a victim of graffiti artists and this piece comments on the irony that an anti-graffiti project is a target for ‘taggers’. (Years later Duchamp presented a playing card of the Mona Lisa, this time without facial hair, his ‘graffiti’ removed. I too may ‘shave’ the Queen of Hearts in years to come!)
